Description
When Brigitte Engelmann, MD, PhD, was five years old, she had a friend who underwent surgery for a heart murmur. Dr Engelmann was so impressed with all the things her friend was able to do after the surgery that she had been unable to do prior to treatment, including many things that healthy children take for granted.
Dr Engelmann knew she wanted to make that kind of difference in people’s lives. That experience led her desire to become a doctor.
Dr Engelmann chose internal medicine and pediatrics because she enjoyed taking care of the whole family and wanted more specialized training in pediatrics.
